CW-386

Power Failure Injection Unit (FIU)

The CW-386 Power FIU (Failure Injection Unit) is used to inject physical faults such as line breaks or short circuits into lines when testing control units. It is another module in the CW-300 series, which can be used for automated testing environments on HiL test benches.

A total of twelve FIU channels are available for this purpose. Ten of these channels (DUT channels) are used to connect a control unit or device under test (DUT) to its peripherals or test bench (TB). To do this, the DUT is connected to the DUT side and the peripherals to the TB side of an FIU channel. The connection between the DUT and the test bench can be disconnected via the CW-386 to simulate line interruptions. Two additional auxiliary (AUX) channels can be used to feed frequently required fault potentials such as ground or supply voltage into the device. Two available fault buses on the CW-386 can be used to connect all twelve FIU channels to each other via two independent paths. This creates short circuits between sensor/control and supply lines. Each channel is equipped with an overcurrent protection circuit that trips when a critical current limit is exceeded and disconnects the connections. The switching states can be controlled and monitored via the CAN bus or via a web interface over Ethernet. The basic configuration is carried out exclusively via the web interface.
