With the CW-140BM (CANnect II) CANWAY offers a bus interface for different automotive bus systems. The basic version provides two CAN buses, two LIN buses and two channels with digital-analog converters. A typical application is controlling actuators via the LIN bus, for example to actively open or close the air-vanes in front of the radiator grille by defined amounts during aerodynamic tests of vehicles.
The module boasts a rugged aluminium housing equipped with Lemo sockets for deployment in harsh environmental conditions. In addition to five push buttons on the top of the device for fast access to important functions a TFT touchscreen ensures intuitive and user-friendly operation. Implementing the operating concept via software also makes it possible for users to carry out their own extensions and modifications; existing bus interfaces can be utilized according to requirements and integrated into processes using the source code. The application software is updated via the integrated USB 2.0 interface in conjunction with a standard PC. Consequently, the user is able to carry out customer-specific adaptations and updates at any time. To support other bus systems as well as applications to measure and generate signals it is possible to extend the CW-140BM with the aid of additional modules. Continuous operations are possible in an automated mode.
The dimensions of the module are 143 mm x 86 mm x 25 mm (L x B x H) and an overall weight of 350 g. It is designed to operate in a temperature range from –20 °C to +70 °C and humidity from 35% 85% without condensation. It requires a power supply of 9-36 VDC. Current consumption is 100 mA at 12 VDC. Data transmissions up to 1 Mbps via the CAN bus are based on the CAN protocol 2.0A (optional 2.0B) to ISO 11898-2. Configurable as LIN master/slave the LIN bus corresponds to LIN specification 2.0. Data transmission rates up to 20 kbps are possible.
